Man Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run Bicycle Collision near University Drive
VISTA, CA (August 6, 2018) – A bicyclist was hospitalized early Monday evening, after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver on Lobelia Drive.
As per reports, the collision took place shortly before 5:40 PM near University Drive. A 2010 Toyota sedan was heading east on Lobelia Drive when it hit a bicyclist and allegedly fled the scene.
The victim was rushed to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. His identity and city of residence were not immediately released. Meanwhile, a witness helped identify the hit-and-run driver and provided directions to the location of the vehicle. The unidentified driver was arrested on suspicion of fleeing the scene of the accident and was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
Investigators believe that alcohol and drugs were not contributing factors in the crash, but no further details have been disclosed to the public at this time.
