Bicyclist Hurt in Costa Mesa Truck Crash
COSTA MESA, CA (May 23, 2019) – A bicyclist sustained life-threatening injuries in a truck accident in Costa Mesa on Wednesday, May 22.
According to the police, the incident prompted the closure of northbound Newport Boulevard at Cecil Place at about 6 a.m.
The bicyclist, a 34-year-old woman, suffered major injuries. First responders rushed her to the hospital and she was in stable condition, according to a police spokeswoman.
The police report stated that the woman appeared to be moving in the wrong way against traffic when she was struck by the truck.
The driver, a 43-year-old man, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
