40-Year-Old Man Hospitalized after Struck by Truck near North 2nd Street
EL CAJON, CA (July 16, 2018) – A man was hospitalized late Monday evening after his bicycle collided with a truck on Winter Gardens Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at 10:28 PM at the intersection of Winter Gardens Boulevard and North 2nd Street. A 40-year-old bicyclist was heading east on Pepper Drive when a northbound Ford F-150 struck him from the right side.
The impact of the collision ejected the victim from his bicycle and onto the roadway. The 60-year-old truck driver stopped at the scene and rendered aid to the injured bicyclist until paramedics arrived. Their identities were not immediately released by authorities.
The bicyclist was rushed to Sharp Memorial Hospital after sustaining critical injuries. Updates regarding his condition were not immediately available.
Alcohol and drugs were ruled out as possible contributing factors, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
