71-year-old Man Hospitalized after Auto Crash at Chalmers Street
Middletown, CA (April 21, 2020)– Friday late morning, a 71-year-old bicyclist sustained severe injuries in an auto crash at Chalmers Street and India Street.
California Highway Patrol received crash reports at about 11:20 a.m. April 17. First responders arrived at the intersection of Chalmers Street and India Street.
According to reports, the older man was riding his bicycle when a Subaru Outback struck him while making a right turn from Chalmer Street onto India Street.
As a result, the man was pinned and trapped under the engine. The mechanics from the Middletown motorcycle shop witnessed the accident and helped save the victim. Firefighters also arrived and used blocks of wood and airbags to lift the Subaru and finally released him.
Further so, the man sustained severe injuries, including fractures of his pelvis, ribs, and left arm. Meanwhile, the identity of the 38-year woman driving the Subaru Outback, as well as the victim, remains undisclosed.
