Paul Jackson Dies Days after Indian Wells Bicycle Accident
INDIAN WELLS, CA (March 26, 2019) – A male bicyclist died days after crashing into a minivan on Highway 111 near Cook Street on March 25.
Paul Jackson, 67, from Calgary died 12:17 a.m. Wednesday at Eisenhower Health hospital in Indian Wells.
According to the Riverside County Coroner’s office, Jackson was injured on Highway 111 near Province Way. He was riding west when he struck a stationary Dodge minivan, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The minivan was legally stopped along the road for about two minutes before the collision, according to police.
Its driver was described as a 73-year-old man from Morongo Valley. Police stated the driver cooperated with investigators. In addition, they determined drugs and alcohol were not factors in the collision.
Highway 111 was partially closed for several hours while the collision was investigated.
According to the Desert Bicycle Club, Jackson and his wife had been coming to the desert for 10 years. He often rode alone while up north. However, he looked forward to coming to the desert and riding with his friends.
