59-Year-Old Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Truck near Alum Rock Avenue
SAN JOSE, CA (July 15, 2018) – A male bike rider was killed in a truck collision on North Jackson Avenue, late Sunday evening. The victim’s identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after his family has been notified.
According to San Jose Police Department, a man driving a 1990 Toyota pickup truck was headed northbound on Jackson and approaching Alum Rock at around 10:00 PM. At the same time, a bicyclist was crossing North Jackson Avenue outside of a crosswalk.
The pickup struck the bicyclist, causing major injuries. Emergency personnel rushed the bicyclist to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
