Bicyclist Died in Hit-and-Run Crash on Monterey Road
San Jose, CA (December 24, 2020) – On Wednesday, a bicyclist died in a deadly hit-and-run crash on Monterey Road.
The deadly crash happened at around 7:35 p.m. near Palm Avenue.
Authorities found out that someone driving a gray or silver late-1990s model Honda Civic northbound struck the bicyclist traveling north.
When authorities arrived, they said the involved car was not at the scene anymore.
The authorities pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the authorities withheld the victim’s identity pending their formal identification and notification of next of kin.
The impact left the Honda with a missing passenger-side mirror, and the vehicle was located “a short distance away,” unoccupied, police said.
Moreover, this marks the city’s 46th traffic fatality of the year, compared to 59 at the same point in 2019.
Also, the victim was the sixth bicyclist to die in a collision on a San Jose roadway 2020, and the year’s ninth deadly hit-and-run case investigated by San Jose police this year.
Please contact SJPD traffic investigator Detective Mike O’Brien at 408-277-4654 if you have details about the incident.

Who to Turn to in Case of a Wrongful Death?
It is clear now more than ever that one person’s negligence can have devastating effects on other individuals. This is quite common in accidents that result in death. Therefore, it is crucial that the family of the victim becomes aware that they have the authority to file a wrongful death suit.
A wrongful death lawsuit gives the loved ones of a departed family member some semblance of justice.
“The aftermath of tragic accidents can make everything difficult for a family. The last thing most families want to deal with is piles of paperwork, questions from insurance companies or defense attorneys, and attempting to obtain police reports” says Mark Sweet, an award-winning attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
Mark adds, “Grieving and handling legal claims don’t exactly go hand in hand, and this is why hiring an experienced attorney can not only provide you with peace of mind that you have a fighter in your corner but also having someone to make sure that your rights are respected and that justice will be served.”
He explains, “Having legal representation after such a traumatic event will provide your family the space to heal while ensuring that justice is brought to your loved one.”
