Fatal Bicycle Crash on Rosedale Highway in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 21, 2019) – A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a car Wednesday evening on Rosedale Highway in Bakersfield, according to the CHP.
The crash happened around 10:26 p.m. on eastbound Rosedale Highway, also known as Highway 58, at Landco Drive.
CHP officials said a female cyclist was trying to cross the highway near Landco Road when she was struck by a black Dodge Challenger sedan.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene, according to the CHP.
Officials halted the eastbound traffic near the scene until at least midnight.
Information on victim’s identity was not immediately available. The crash is still under investigation.
