64-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed in Accident near Old Mill Road
DOLLAR POINT, CA (June 18, 2019) – A 64-year-old bicyclist was fatally struck by a car on Highway 28, near Old Mill Road Thursday morning.
The crash happened around 7:40 a.m., on Highway 28. First responders arrived near Old Mill Road shortly after.
According to officers, a silver sedan was heading east on Highway 28 when it turned left onto Old Mill Road and struck the bicyclist.
The 16-year-old driver also told officers that he was temporarily blinded by the sun at the time.
The victim was left unconscious and was flown to Renown Regional Medical Center for further treatment of major injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was later declared dead.
The crash also caused significant delays before all the roads were eventually reopened around 9:15 a.m.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be involved in the crash, which still remains under investigation.
