Bicyclist Killed in Accident on Highway 174 [Colfax, CA]

Colfax, CA (June 28, 2024) – A bicyclist was killed following an accident on Highway 174 early Thursday morning.

The fatal traffic accident happened at 1:52 a.m. between Hill Drive and the Red Frog Bar, north of Colfax.

The accident report said a man on a bike was either stopped or riding slowly in the middle of the road when he was hit by a pickup.

The rescuers rushed the bicyclist to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, the pickup driver said they did not see the bicyclist as he was wearing no reflectors and had dark clothing on.

Troopers do not suspect the pickup driver of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
