Man Hospitalized after Struck by Car at 10th Avenue South
DES MOINES, WA (September 4, 2018) – On Tuesday morning, a bicyclist sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Kent Des Moines Road.
Officers and medics arrived at the scene at around 10:00 AM in the area of 10th Avenue South, after receiving reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian. The 53-year-old bicyclist sustained serious injuries and was found near his crumpled bicycle. He was treated at the scene and rushed to a local hospital, for further treatment and evaluation.
The hit-and-run driver was gone when authorities arrived, but a witness recorded the crash on their mirror camera and handed the video over to police. Officials believe that the footage and a piece of the car from the right passenger side will help them locate the driver and vehicle involved. They believe the vehicle is a gray 2006-2008 Volkswagen Passat. There is no description of the hit-and-run driver at this time.
Anyone who has more information about the incident is urged to call Des Moines Police.
