One Person Hospitalized with Critical Injuries after Bike Crash on 5th Avenue
OROVILLE, CA (October 17, 2018) – On Wednesday morning, a man was critically injured after a bicycle collision on Oro Dam Boulevard. His name and place of residence were not immediately disclosed to the public.
According to officers with the Oroville Police Department, the collision happened at 8:09 AM at 5th Avenue. The preliminary investigation revealed that the bicyclist was traveling southbound on 5th when he ran a red light at the intersection. There, he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on a green light.
Due to the impact of the collision, the unidentified rider was ejected from the bicycle onto the road.
He suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. There are no updates on his current medical condition.
The woman who was driving the vehicle had two children in the vehicle, and they were reportedly shaken up after the collision. They remained on site and cooperated with investigators. The vehicle involved was towed for processing, and drugs and alcohol are not considered to be involved in the crash.
The incident is still under investigation at this time.
