1 Injured in San Diego Collision at Copley Drive and Hickman Field Drive
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 20, 2019) — A bicyclist suffered severe injuries after colliding with an SUV at Copley Drive and Hickman Field Drive Wednesday night.
The San Diego police said the crash occurred at about 9:40 p.m. The 45-year-old man was riding a bicycle northbound in the southbound bike lane on Hickman Field Drive. At the same time, a 47-year-old woman was driving a 2018 Lexus SUV westbound on Copley Drive.
When the bicyclist passed through a red light at Copley Drive, the SUV and the bicycle collided at the intersection.
The bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries, including a skull fracture and a brain bleed. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.
On the other hand, the Lexus driver did not sustain any injuries.
The crash is under investigation. The officers said intoxication did not appear as a factor.
