Police Investigate the Bicycle VS Car Crash on Menchaca Street in San Antonio

San Antonio, TX (February 22, 2024) – San Antonio police report that someone shot at a 19-year-old driver after he hit a bicyclist in a crash on Menchaca Street. 

The incident unfolded around midnight near the intersection of Menchaca Street and North Elmendorf Street, close to North Zarzamora Street and Woodlawn Lake. 

Upon arrival, officers found the man who had accidentally collided with the bicyclist at the intersection, who suffered only minor injuries.

The driver reported to the officers that someone immediately shot at him after the accident.

Fearing for his life, he re-entered his car and fled the scene, stopping a short distance away to call for help, according to the police. 

The man was unable to identify the shooter. Although he was unharmed, his car was peppered with bullets, authorities noted. 

Witnesses at the scene provided officers with conflicting accounts of the event.

The bicyclist sustained minor injuries that did not necessitate a hospital visit. 

Police are continuing their investigation into the shooting incident.
