Man Hospitalized after Carnelian Bay Bicycle Accident on Highway 28 and Old Mill Road
CARNELIAN BAY, CA (June 19, 2019) – A 64-year-old bicyclist sustained injuries in a bicycle accident on Highway 28 on June 18.
The rider sustained serious injuries after a car hit him on Highway 28 and Old Mill Road just before 7:45 a.m.
According to the CHP, a 16-year-old driver of an eastbound Subaru Legacy on Highway 28 turned left onto Old Mill Road and struck the bicyclist.
According to the preliminary investigation, the driver suffered from temporary blindness due to the sun when he hit the rider.
Care Flight airlifted the victim to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.
Authorities ruled out drugs or alcohol as a factor in the collision.
