Unidentified Driver Flees after Accident on Main Street near Blosser Road

 
SANTA MARIA, CA (March 18, 2020) – An unidentified bicyclist was fatally struck in a hit-and-run collision on Main Street Sunday night.
 
Santa Maria Police received reports around 8:40 p.m., in the North Santa Maria area. Dispatchers arrived between Main and Cypress Street shortly after.
 
Emergency personnel immediately located the unresponsive bicyclist down on the roadway upon arrival.
 
An American Medical Response ambulance transported him to a nearby hospital for further treatment of life-threatening injuries. Due to the impact of the collision, the bicyclist was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
 
Meanwhile, the involved driver escaped the scene after striking the bicyclist.
 
Authorities are still trying to identify the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run crash. They strongly encourage those with information to contact their local PD immediately.
 
Meanwhile, the identity of the victim remains undisclosed due to pending family notification.
 
The surrounding area on Main Street was closed for a brief time during preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
