Esmeralda Hernandez Lopez Involved in Merced County Crash
Merced County, CA (October 28, 2021) – On Thursday, a 69-year-old male bicyclist dies, while 31-year-old Esmeralda Hernandez Lopez was involved in big rig versus big rig crash on West Dickenson Ferry Road.
Officers responded to the crash scene at about 6:42 a.m. west of South El Capitan School Road.
Officer said Lopez was driving a 2014 Freightliner big rig eastbound on West Dickenson Ferry Road at about 55 mph.
That is when the front of the semi-truck rear-ended an eastbound 69-year-old male bicyclist.
Officers pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene.
Moreover, officers said the lack of ambient light in the area and the lack of reflectors on the bicycle may have been a factor in the crash.
Meanwhile, the authorities said that drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the collision. The authorities are still investigating this fatal crash.
