Bicyclist Critically Injured in Crash on West Main Street [Santa Maria, CA]

SANTA MARIA, CA (September 13, 2019) – A bicyclist was critically injured in a crash on West Main Street on Friday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near the intersection of Benwiley Avenue shortly after 5:00 PM. Based on a report, the victim’s bicycle collided with an unidentified vehicle.
 
The Santa Maria Fire Department and American Medical Response said that the victim was taken via Calstar medical helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of major injuries.
 
Additional information was not immediately available. However, an investigation by the authorities is on-going.
