1 Injured in Oakland Bicycle Accident on 73rd Avenue
OAKLAND, CA (June 7, 2020) – Thursday night, a 50-year-old bicyclist suffered critical injuries in a crash on 73rd Avenue.
The incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. on 73rd Avenue and International Boulevard.
At this time, the police haven’t disclosed the identity of the male bicyclist. However, they revealed that his place of residency in Oakland.
According to the police, a northbound red Toyota Prius on 73rd Avenue struck the bicyclist who was crossing in a crosswalk, heading west. However, the authorities noted that the rider didn’t wear a helmet during the crash.
As a result, the bicyclist sustained severe head trauma and was transported to a hospital.
Meanwhile, the Toyota driver, a male Fremont resident, stayed at the scene and has been cooperative with the investigation.
The police added that it’s still unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
