Hit-and-Run Driver Wanted after Collision with Bike Rider near Leeward Spur

SONOMA COUNTY, CA (October 15, 2018) – A man was seriously injured late Monday morning following a hit-and-run crash on Highway 1. The identity of the victim was not immediately disclosed to the public.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 11:50 AM near Leeward Spur. The bicyclist was riding south on the coastal highway when a vehicle struck him.

The impact of the crash knocked the victim to the pavement, causing life-threatening injuries. He was airlifted to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment and medical evaluation. Updates on his current medical condition were not released.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle briefly stopped before ultimately fleeing the area. Authorities believe the suspect vehicle was a dark blue or black pickup with a flatbed, possibly pulling a white trailer. There is no desctiption of the driver at this time, and if he was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
