70-Year-Old Woman Fatally Injured in Multiple-Vehicle Collision at Coffee Road
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 26, 2018) – An elderly woman died and a young boy was injured in a multiple-vehicle crash on the Rosedale Highway at Coffee Road, on Monday evening.
The incident involving five cars occurred around 8:10 PM, according to the Bakersfield Police Department. Officials announced that a man was driving a black Honda sedan eastbound on Rosedale when he struck the back of a green Hyundai SUV. The impact of the collision caused a chain reaction involving three other cars.
Betty Jean Hollins, 70, and a young boy were occupants of the SUV. The boy was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries but his condition was not immediately released. Hollins was killed in the collision.
Police said that drugs and alcohol do not seem to be involved, but the investigation is ongoing at this time. Reportedly, one person was detained at the scene.
