Jacob Allen Denning Injured and Betty Jean Druebert Killed in Crash near Highway 1
CAYUCOS, CA (May 8, 2018) – One driver was killed and another injured in a two-car collision on Old Creek Road, early Tuesday morning.
According to reports, 70-year-old Betty Jean Druebert of North Las Vegas was driving westbound on Old Creek Rd in a red Honda Civic, around 7:20 AM. While turning onto the southbound Highway 1, she ran a red light and was struck on the driver’s by another vehicle.
The Nissan Sentra, 20-year-old Jacob Allen Denning of Morro Bay, was unable to brake due to his speed of 50-55 mph. Both drivers were taken to the Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment and evaluation.
Druebert suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead, while Denning sustained major injuries including a broken right leg. There is no update on his current condition.
Authorities continue to investigate the fatal collision, but do not believe that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors. The California Highway Patrol encourages any witnesses with additional information or video footage of the crash, to contact them by calling (805) 594-8700.
