93-Year-Old Woman Fatally Injured in Antioch Collision Involving Three Vehicles on Silverado Drive
ANTIOCH, CA (April 21, 2018) – An elderly woman lost her life in a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of James Donlon Boulevard and Silverado Drive, on Sunday. She was later identified as 93-year-old Betty James, a resident of Clayton.
According to the Antioch Police Department, the collision happened at around 3:05 PM on Saturday. A Buick Regal sedan, driven by James, was heading northbound on Silverado Drive and pulled out onto James Donlon Boulevard. At the same time, a Ford 150 pickup entered the intersection from the east side.
The pickup collided with the Buick, hitting its front door. The extreme force of the impact pushed the Buick into a third vehicle.
James had to be extricated from her vehicle with the help of hydraulic tools and was rushed to an area hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries the following day. The drivers of the other vehicles involved were reportedly uninjured and stayed at the scene to cooperate with investigators. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the collision.
