Woman Died after being Struck by Train on Gilman Street and Second Street
BERKELEY, CA (March 27, 2018) – A female cyclist was hit and killed in a train crash on Gilman Street on Tuesday evening.
Police received reports of a bicycle rider who was hit by a Union Pacific Train, around 9:52 PM, near the intersection of Gilman and Second streets. Responding Berkeley Police Department officers found the woman unresponsive south of the intersection.
Firefighters declared the woman dead at the scene shortly after 10:00 PM. Her identity was not immediately released.
The Berkeley Fire Department turned over the scene to the Berkeley Police Department and Union Pacific. Union Pacific is still investigating the collision. No additional information has been disclosed at this time.
