BERKELEY, CA – One Dead in AC Transit Bus Collision on Ashby Avenue

Fatal Multiple Vehicle Collision into Berkeley Home on Ashby Street Avenue Between California and King Streets

 
BERKELEY, CA (February 8, 2018) – A fatal accident involving an Alameda-Contra Costa Transit bus, two cars, and a home, was reported on Ashby Avenue on Thursday morning around 6:38 AM.
 
According Berkeley police Sgt. Andrew Frankel, a red Honda sedan was traveling south on California St when it hit an AC Transit bus that was going west on Ashby Ave. The force of the collision sent both vehicles into a nearby home and a parked car.
 
The driver of the sedan was killed on the scene, while the bus driver and single passenger on board the bus were not injured. It is unclear if someone was inside of the house during the crash, but no other injuries were reported.
 
Ashby Avenue was closed off for investigation between California and King streets. Police officials are still investigating to find the cause of this fatal accident.
