1 Person Dead in National City Pedestrian Accident on 2400 Sweetwater Road

NATIONAL CITY, CA (October 1, 2024) – Saturday morning, authorities arrested Bennie Ray Womack after a fatal hit-and-run crash on 2400 Sweetwater Road.

The incident happened at around 2:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Sweetwater Road.

According to reports, a dark-colored SUV struck a 30-year-old male pedestrian for still unknown reasons. Then, the driver of the vehicle pulled over, moved the victim to the side of the road, then drove off.

Moreover, responders rushed the victim to Scripps Mercy Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Furthermore, authorities arrested 43-year-old Womack, eight hours after the fatal crash.
