Benjie Gomez Dead in San Jose Motorcycle and Big Rig Accident on 880 Freeway
SAN JOSE, CA (August 3, 2020) – On Sunday night, 47-year-old Benjie Gomez died in a truck and motorcycle crash on the 880 Freeway.
The authorities responded just before 6:00 p.m. on the southbound 880 Freeway, north of Highway 101.
CHP Officer Damian Cistaro revealed that when the officers came, they located a motorcyclist down in the No. 3 lane.
Then, they administered emergency life-saving care until the San Jose Fire Department firefighters arrived. The firefighters transported Mr. Gomez to a hospital, where he died shortly after.
Meanwhile, the CHP officers issued a Sig-alert that shut down the Nos. 3 through 5 lanes of southbound 880 Freeway at 6:32 p.m. However, they reopened some lanes at 8:40 p.m. By 9:05 p.m., all the lanes reopened.
Moreover, the big rig truck’s driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
