Benjamin Romayor Killed, Isaac Valentino DeLuna Arrested in DUI Crash on Harris Grade Road

Mission Hill, CA (August 29, 2020) – On Saturday, Benjamin Romayor, 68, died in a DUI crash on Harris Grade Road.

The California Highway Patrol says the crash happened between 2 vehicles at about 6:30 p.m. on August 22nd, by Harris Grade Road near Burton Mesa Road.

Moreover, Officer Kelly Valdez confirmed a 2017 white BMW going south driven by Isaac Valentino DeLuna, 20, of Lompoc, crossed into the other lane and crashed with a 1995 Ford pickup truck.

Additionally, Valdez said, “As a result of the head-on collision, the 68-year-old man sustained fatal injuries.”

Furthermore, Valdez confirmed Romayor, of Lompoc, died in the crash.

Meanwhile, Deluna sustained minor wounds, including a cut on his right hand.

Subsequently, CHP determines that alcohol was a factor in the crash, and arrested Deluna for suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Other charges are, DUI of alcohol causing injury and DUI with a blood-alcohol level of more than 0.08 percent.

Finally, authorities are still conducting an additional investigation into the circumstance leading to the crash. No criminal charges filed as of Friday afternoon  Santa Barbara County Superior Court.
