One Dead and One Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision Near 254th Street
BONNEY LAKE, WA (January 3, 2017) – Washington State Patrol reported a head-on collision involving a Ford F250 pickup truck and a Ford Escape, between Bonney Lake and Enumclaw, around 8:10 PM.
On Wednesday evening, Benjamin D. Punley was driving eastbound on State Route 410 one mile east of Bonney Lake. The 39-year-old Forks man veered his pickup truck, crossing the center line of the highway and striking a Ford Escape. This vehicle had 33-year-old driver, Zachary S. Sena from Black Diamond, and an unidentified female passenger.
After the two vehicles collided, the pickup truck stopped in the westbound lane and the Escape skidded off the road on the westbound side. Both cars were totaled from the impact.
Punley succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Sena sustained serious injuries and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital nearby. The female passenger suffered minor injured in the crash.
There was a closure of both directions of State Route 410 at 254th street in order to tow away the cars and get victims medical attention. Lanes were reopened almost four hours after the incident happened.
Officials are investigating the cause of the crash. No further details have been released at this time.
