2 People Hospitalized after Petaluma Bicycle Accident
PETALUMA, CA (April 15, 2019) – Two cyclists suffered injuries after an intoxicated Santa Rosa man struck them with his vehicle on April 12.
28-year-old Benjamin Braunstein drove west in a 2014 Ford Focus on Bodega Avenue west of Pepper Road. Braunstein veered right and crashed with the cyclists on the right shoulder. in addition, CHP spokesman David deRutte stated that Braunstein struck the cyclists at about 7:30 a.m.
As of Friday, the identities of the victims remain unreleased. Meanwhile, medical responders transported them to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with moderate to minor injuries.
CHP officers confirmed that Braunstein took drugs before the collision. He didn’t sustain any injuries in the accident. However, authorities booked him into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI.
