DANVILLE, CA (May 8, 2018) – On Tuesday afternoon, a teenage boy was found unconscious in the San Ramon Valley High School pool. He was identified as 15-year-old Ben Curry.

According to reports, Danville Police was set to the scene at 1:51 PM. A staff member had seen the boy at the bottom of the pool as a 5th period PE class was starting, and jumped in to save him. Life-saving measures were administered until authorities arrived at the scene

Paramedics transported Curry to the Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The principal of the high school, Jason Krolikowski, released a statement saying that psychologists, school counselors, and a school district support team would be available to students who need help going through this difficult time. He expressed the sadness and emotion the community was feeling from the tragedy.

A memorial started to form on the gates outside of the pool consisting of notes, shoes, pictures, and flowers. Students gathered around to mourn the loss of their fellow student.
