58-Year-Old Sheriff Deputy Injured in Road Collision near Milepost 23
BELFAIR, WA (April 14, 2018) – Around 9:20 AM on Saturday morning, a Mason County sheriff’s deputy was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 3.
According to State Patrol, the deputy’s vehicle, a 2016 Ford Explorer, was parked on the southbound shoulder of Highway 3 near milepost 28. The deputy activated the emergency lights and sirens in order to attempt a U-turn, when struck by a 2016 Jeep Cherokee that was headed southbound on Highway 3.
The 58-year-old deputy sustained minor injuries and was transported to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton for treatment and evaluation. The 63-year-old woman of Monroe driving the Explorer was not injured in the accident.
Authorities are still investigating the collision to determine the exact cause of the crash.
