Fatal Wrong-Way Pursuit Crash on 60 Freeway in Beaumont
BEAUMONT, CA (January 20, 2019) – At least one person was killed in a crash during a reported pursuit of a wrong-way vehicle Sunday evening in Beaumont, authorities said.
The fatal crash happened around 10:31 p.m. on 60 Freeway at Jack Rabbit Trail.
Two vehicles, including a tan Toyota Corolla, were involved. One was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
While details of how the crash exactly transpired were not immediately available, at least one occupant suffered major injuries as a result of the accident.
Responding paramedics took the patient to a hospital, where the individual was declared dead.
Eastbound lanes were closed while the wreckage was cleared and re-opened about 11:25 p.m., the CHP said.
No identifying information is being released at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
