35-Year-Old Bicyclist Hospitalized in Car-Bicycle Crash on Valley Street
Carlsbad, CA (August 8, 2022) On Sunday, a 35-year-old female cyclist sustained serious injuries in a traffic collision on Basswood Avenue.
Carlsbad Police says the car-bicycle crash happened at about 5:45 p.m. at the intersection with Valley Street.
Reports say that a Toyota 4-Runner struck the woman riding an electric bicycle with a 16-month-old baby girl.
Officials say that the cyclist was hurt, fortunately, the 1-year-old did not sustain injuries.
Paramedics transported the patient to a nearby hospital, while rescuers also took the child to the hospital as a precaution.
Authorities say that the 42-year-old female driver of the Toyota stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
Meanwhile, police did not disclose the probable cause of the crash, but it is believed that impairment was not a factor in the crash.
Authorities are investigating the incident and have not released further details about the crash.
