Barry Godwin Killed in Valley Springs Vehicular Accident

VALLEY SPRINGS, CA (December 11, 2018) – One person died after his vehicle overturned on Milton Road on Sunday, December 9.

According to the report, at around 1:45 a.m., a man was driving a 2005 GMC pickup south of Jenny Lind in western Calaveras County. While traveling at an undetermined speed northbound on Milton Road north of South Gulch Road, he was unsuccessful to negotiate a right curve. He then traveled across the oncoming lane onto the shoulder where he turned sharply to the right.

As the pickup went back to the roadway, it rolled over several times and went off the other side of the roadway before it stopped on its roof. The driver, identified as 26-year-old Barry Godwin, of Burson, was pronounced at the scene, the CHP reported.

The incident is still under investigation, and it is not yet determined if drugs and/or alcohol were a factor.
