2 Dead in Spokane Plane Accident outside Portland
SPOKANE, WA (October 5, 2023) – Tuesday night, Barrett Bevacqua and Michele Cavallotti died in a horrific small plane crash in Spokane.
The incident happened when a small plane crashed into a home outside Portland. Reports confirmed that three people were on board the plane when the crash occurred.
Officers confirmed that three parties were connected in the Hillsboro Aero Academy, including 20-year-old Emily Hurd from Spokane.
However, 20-year-old Bevacqua and 22-year-old Cavallotti succumbed to injuries in the crash.
Officers said that Cavallotti was a flight instructor, and Bevacqua was a student pilot.
Meanwhile, responders airlifted Emily to a Portland hospital with serious injuries.
According to NTSB officials, the group was training when it crashed. Meanwhile, Emily was in the plane’s back seat, but what exactly brought it down is still unknown.
“We look at all facets of flight, and this was an instructional flight, so they could have been doing a maneuver at this point. We just don’t know,” said NTSB officials.
Meanwhile, reports said that Emily has undergone emergency surgery to fix a broken back and is still under sedation.
She also sustained several other serious injuries that will need attention.
Moreover, officers revealed that no one in the home or on the ground sustained injuries in the crash.
Also, the NTSB and FAA handle the crash investigation.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
