Driver Arrested in Upland Fatal Crash
Upland, CA (October 5, 2024) – Barbara Taylor, 83, of Rancho Cucamonga, was killed in a DUI crash on Euclid Avenue Wednesday afternoon.
It was about 4 p.m. when Taylor was driving with her adult granddaughter who was sitting in the passenger seat.
Their vehicle approached the stop sign at the intersection with 15th Street. When it appeared safe, Taylor drove forward.
However, before she could reach the other side, a speeding driver crashed into them.
Immediately, emergency crews responded at the crash scene and extricated the victims using a hydraulic rescue tool.
The rescuers rushed Barbara Taylor and her granddaughter to a trauma center. Sadly, the 83-year-old grandmother died and her granddaughter remained in critical condition
Moreover, the authorities had arrested the suspect, Jose Ramirez, 25. Upland Police stated he did not have a driver’s license and displayed signs of intoxication at the scene and was determined to be twice the legal limit.
Ramirez and his passenger incurred minor injuries.
Moreover, officers discovered Ontario Police had already arrested Ramirez for driving under the influence in July 2024.
Ramirez was booked at the West Valley Detention Center for murder and driving under the influence, causing great bodily injury
