64-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck by Own Car near Commerce Way
BEAUMONT, CA (December 8, 2018) – A Banning woman was killed Saturday afternoon following an accident on East 2nd Street Marketplace. The identity of the 64-year-old victim is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the Beaumont Police Department, the incident happened near Commerce Way, at about 1:45 PM. A driver pulled into a drive-thru and got out of her 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe without placing it in park. The vehicle continued moving forward and pinned the driver against the building.
Emergency responders freed the driver and immediately rendered medical aid. She was later transported to a hospital for treatment and evaluation. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff.
An investigation is ongoing to determine why the driver exited her SUV in the drive-thru lane. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the authorities as soon as possible. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
