Poison Lake Traffic Collision Injures 3 People
Poison Lake, CA (March 14, 2023) – At about 5:35 a.m. on Monday, Baljit Sindhu, 59, of Elk Grove, Banjindher Singh, 35, also of Elk Grove, and Tammy Thompson, 54, of New Orleans, Louisiana, suffered injuries in a big rig crash on Highway 44.
According to the authorities, a westbound 2020 Freightliner driven by Baljit Sindhu carrying a load of paint entered an icy curve at Poison Lake. The truck jackknifed and struck a snow embankment. As a result, the saddle tanks ruptured and spilled about 120 gallons of diesel fuel. The big rig finally stopped in the roadway.
After five minutes, a 2021 Peterbilt with an empty trailer driven by Tammy Thompson also entered the ivy curve and collided with the Freightliner.
Both of the semi-trucks blocked Highway 44 and closed its junctions near Susanville and Highway 89 near Old Station.
Baljit Sindhu complained of pain and his passenger, Banjindher Singh suffered major injuries. Similarly, Tammy Thompson also complained of pain.
The paramedics transported all three of them to Banner Lassen Medical Center.
SEMSA, CalFire, Shasta County Fire, and the California Highway Patrol responded to the Poison Lake traffic collision.
