Passenger Dies in Car Crash on Old River Road in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 16, 2019) – A woman was killed and a man was severely injured following a car accident Thursday afternoon in Bakersfield.
The fatal crash happened around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Old River Road and White Lane.
According to Bakersfield police, a gray Buick Lacrosse was heading southbound on Old River Road, just North of White Lane when the car hit a curb and lost a tire. It then hit a traffic signal pole at the intersection.
The woman suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has been withheld by the Kern County Coroner’s Office pending family notification.
The man driving the Lacrosse was taken to a nearby hospital with severe injuries.
It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
