A 47-year-old man from Delano was operating a Toyota pickup truck and crashed into the back of a semi-truck at high speeds. Authorities are perplexed as to why the Toyota veered into the same lane and plowed into the rear of the truck.
California Highway Patrol officers do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role but suspected distracted driving may have been a factor.
The identity of the fatal victim will be released once the next of kin has been notified.
