75-Year-Old Salida Woman Fatally Struck by Car on Broadway Avenue
SALIDA, CA (June 5, 2018) – On Tuesday evening, an elderly woman was struck and killed in a pedestrian collision on Curtis Street. The victim was later identified as 75-year-old Avelina Garcia of Salida.
CHP officers responded to the scene of the accident, which occurred at around 7:00 PM, at the intersection of Curtis Street and Broadway Avenue. The crash site was in front of the Salida Home Market.
Garcia was struck by a blue GMC Jimmy, driven by 19-year-old Brian M Esquivel, of Salida. Esquivel was not injured and remained at the scene after the accident and was not arrested.
California Highway Patrol officials stated that drugs or alcohol were not considered to be factors in the fatal collision. Further details about the incident were not immediately released to the public.
