Whatcom County, WA (August 28, 2023) On Saturday evening, a 44-year-old Bellingham man died after an auto-pedestrian crash on Smith Road.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the fatal accident happened around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Smith Road and Guide Meridian.

Reports say that a southbound 2016 Hyundai Azera sedan fatally struck the Bellingham man who was attempting to remove debris off the right lane south of Smith Road.

WSP says that the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
