Austin Kleindienst and Emmit Coots Jr Hospitalized After Crash on Elston Road in Jeffesron City

Jefferson City, MO (July 19, 2024) – On Thursday, 26-year-old Austin Kleindienst and 87-year-old Emmit Coots Jr sustained injuries in a crash on Elston Road.

A two-vehicle car crash on July 18 seriously injured one person. Records show that 26-year-old Austin Kleindienst from Jefferson City was driving a 2001 Ford Ranger westbound on Elston Road near Bozley Lane. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reported that 87-year-old Emmit Coots Jr., also from Jefferson City, was traveling eastbound in a 2017 Chevrolet 1500.

Around 8 p.m., Coots attempted a left turn into a driveway when Kleindienst’s vehicle struck the front of his car. 

Kleindienst sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to University Hospital by MU Air. 

Coots sustained only minor injuries and was transported to Capital Region Medical Center by ambulance. 

MSHP reported that neither man was wearing a seatbelt during the crash.
