Two People Dead after Speeding Vehicle Crashes into Tree near West Elkhorn Avenue
FRESNO, CA (September 23, 2018) – Two 19-year-old mean were killed early Sunday evening following a crash on Walnut Avenue. The victims were later identified as Augustin Sanzon Flores and Marcos Gonzalez Silvestre, both residents of Riverdale.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 6:00 PM near West Elkhorn Avenue. A 1998 Honda was speeding on South Walnut Avenue when the driver lost control and slammed into an almond tree.
Flores and Silvestre sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal crash and to identify possible contributing factors. It was also noted that neither Flores nor Gonzalez Silvestre was secured in a seatbelt. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
