Multi-Vehicle Crash on Danville Drive Sends 2 to Hospital
Abilene, TX (April 11, 2024) – At least two people suffered injuries following a S 7th Street collision Tuesday afternoon.
The four-vehicle crash happened at around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection with Danville Drive.
Two ambulances responded to the scene and took at least two injured people to an area hospital.
Abilene Police officers diverted traffic away from the crash scene.
Troopers are investigating.
A traffic accident is the leading cause of long-term disability in the United States. Statistics show that 78.3% of traffic accidents result in injury and 4.24% result in death.
Here are some of the things we can do to avoid traffic accidents.
Always check your vehicle before you leave.
Start by inspecting your vehicle’s headlights and turn signals. Ensure the front and rear headlamps are working properly and visible from a few yards away.
Read your tire pressure to maintain the recommended pressure. In addition, check underneath your vehicle for leaks and loose objects.
You should always stay focused while on the road. Remove all distractions that could cause accidents, such as mobile phone use and unrestrained toddlers.
The Aftermath of the 7th Street Collision
Despite their scrupulous creation and mapping for efficient travel, highways are among the most dangerous places on earth. Consequently, everyone must remain calm to handle the situation effectively after a collision.
In fact, on the AAA Foundation website, Chief Executive Officer Peter Kissinger repeatedly labeled the epidemic of motor vehicle-related accidents a “public health crisis.”
The following are things we should remember if we are involved in an accident:
- Before anything else, seek medical attention if you or someone with you has been hurt.
- Get to a safe place to prevent further damage or injury.
- Collect as much information as possible, including insurance and contact information for people involved in the accident and pictures/videos of vehicles involved. Also, do not forget to document faults and whatever can be used as evidence.
- File a police report or incident report by calling 911.
