Injuries Reported in Eureka Accident on Highway 101 and Herrick Avenue

 
EUREKA, CA (April 27, 2022) – Sunday, a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 101 and Herrick Avenue involved Ashley Underwood.
 
The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Highway 101, south of Herrick Avenue.
 
After the crash, two vehicles stayed at the scene while a third left.
 
As a result, one person suffered moderate injuries and two received minor injuries.
 
Moreover, the crash shut down two lanes of southbound Hwy 101.
 
“I was on my way to pick up my kids. I had my husky in the vehicle along with the kids’ car seats,” said Ashley Underwood.
 
According to her, as she headed south on Highway 101 at the Humboldt Hill exit, a green Ford pickup began barreling back down through the grass from the offramp towards the freeway.
 
“I saw him flying down,” she added. “The green truck wasn’t braking. It was just flying straight at us…He barreled straight into the burgundy truck. [It] was hit and smashed hard into the center divider…Totaled the truck. Honestly, I don’t know which vehicle hit me, but it was the green vehicle that was responsible,” she said.
 
“The green truck guy was passed out” after the crash. Underwood revealed. “He was gravely injured.”
 
Meanwhile, an eyewitness said that the injured man might have already been passed out before the accident. “I hope more eyewitnesses come forward,” she added.
