Ashley Hodge Fatally Injured after El Cajon Two-Car Collision on Pepper Drive
EL CAJON, CA (September 16, 2019) — A 29-year-old woman identified as Ashley Hodge died after a two-car crash on Friday, September 13.
Hodge was making a left turn from northbound Peerless Drive onto westbound Pepper Drive in her 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. Then an eastbound 2003 Volkswagen Passat broadsided her just before 7:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Firefighters extricated Hodge because she was trapped in her vehicle. After that, medics transported her to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where she died, CHP Public Affairs Officer Travis Garrow said.
Her mother, Pam Hodge, told a local news source that the family donated her organs to those in need.
A GoFundMe page was set up to help her family with funeral expenses. Any leftover money will be put in a trust fund for her two children – a young son and daughter.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 22-year-old El Cajon man, had minor injuries in the incident.
Investigators are trying to determine which driver was at fault.
