1-Year-Old Child Fatally Struck in Car Collision near Bighorn Drive in Riverside County
Riverside County, CA (May 6, 2020) – Wednesday morning, Ashley Grome’s daughter was killed while a driver was arrested in an auto crash on Highway 74.
California Highway Patrol first received reports of the incident at 8:57 a.m., near Bighorn Drive.
Emergency personnel arrived to the scene about eight miles south of Bighorn Golf Club. Dispatched officers immediately located a plunged vehicle upon arrival.
According to reports, the vehicle was traveling near the town of Pinyon Crest when it crashed and landed 200 feet off the road.
Apparently, the driver was Gome’s husband, who inexplicably attacked her, leaving her and driving off with the 1-year-old child.
The child, named Maddie, died in the crash. Police arrested the husband, and Ashley Grome is currently recovering from her wounds at the hospital. She is also pregnant.
Officers closed the surrounding areas of Highway 74 and Marker 85/86 while the investigation continued.
