Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested after Fatal Pedestrian Crash near Jamul Feed & Supply
JAMUL, CA (October 5, 2018) – A woman was killed Friday evening following a hit-and-run crash on Campo Road. The deceased victim was later identified as 65-year-old Ashley Bevers. Her place of residence was not immediately disclosed
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 7:18 PM near Jamul Feed & Supply. The pedestrian was crossing near the 13000 block of Campo Road when she was struck by a westbound Toyota Corolla.
Bevers suffered critical injuries and was rushed to the Scripps Memorial Hospital for treatment and evaluation. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff. The driver of the Corolla initially stopped and exited his vehicle before fleeing the area. Authorities later confirmed that the unidentified suspect was found and arrested, but further details on his identity and arrest were not disclosed.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors.
